How can I get set up with a COMET account?

If your company has already signed a COMET Service Agreement with TruMarx, you can see your company’s designated COMET System Administrator and they can provide you an ID and Password.

If your company has not executed a Service Agreement, please contact the TruMarx Sales Team, salesinquiries@trumarx.com.

How does my company set up and control users on COMET?

COMET provides a robust User Administration tool, that allows your company to control user’s setup and entitlements.

Flexible and full-featured administrator functions allow your company to manage company-wide profiles, individual users and a range of entitlements, such as commodities, markets, transaction limits, counterparties and more at any time. No need for costly or time-consuming IT or vendor support personnel. With an easy-to-use administrator interface, you can make required changes on the fly.

How do I connect to COMET?

COMET is a rich web application that can simply be accessed using an Internet connection and a browser (See System Requirements for additional information). There is no special hardware required or software to install.

Will my corporate firewall allow me to connect to COMET?

COMET communicates with your browser using a secure HTTPS connection via port 443. Port 443 is a standard port for this type of secure connection using SSL, and as such there should be no special action needed on the part of your company’s IT staff.

In the unlikely event that your company’s security strategy restricts HTTPS connections over port 443, then a firewall change may be required. You can contact your internal IT personnel or the TruMarx Support Staff for further assistance.

What is the fee structure for using COMET?

COMET Fees are a Pay-As-You-Go Plan: No software charges, license fees or obligations.

COMET charges no fee to establish your company on the platform and requires no costly internal IT resources. You pay for executed volumes only. And since there are no added charges, you can designate users throughout your organization (back office, risk, credit, legal, etc.) to assist collaboration, dovetail internal processes, optimize productivity and deliver maximum value. Contact the TruMarx Sales Team for more details.

Can fees for transacting on COMET be allocated in different ways?

Yes. The default transaction fee on COMET is 50/50, which means both counterparties to an executed transaction pay fees equally. However, COMET does allow the originating counterparty to set the fee disposition to either “Buyer pays fees” or “Seller pays fees” at the outset of a deal. In this way, each counterparty to a transaction understands how the fees need to disbursed and can take that into account when pricing the deal.

Is COMET an auction platform, a best bid platform, or a negotiating platform?

COMET is a negotiating platform. All three of these platform models were evaluated during the design of COMET, but based on customer input and inherent features, COMET allows for unlimited negotiations until acceptable terms can be reached and a transaction is executed.

How can I get my transaction data out of COMET and into my other systems?

The COMET System Administrator tool has a Data Export feature that allows transaction data to be output from COMET and imported into other systems such as your trade capture, risk, or data warehouse.

The export from COMET is achieved via an XML formatted file, which can be mapped into other systems. For more details on this feature see the COMET Customer Administrator User Guide or contact Technical Support.

How do I know when someone has submitted a deal to me on COMET?

COMET is designed to send you Email Alerts when attention is needed.

The market is volatile and you’re busy. With the COMET email alert feature, there’s no need to stare at your screen waiting for deals. Receive automated alerts when one of your counterparties sends you a submission. You can direct email alerts to your computer, phone, Blackberry or other capable device and never miss a market opportunity.
